CURRENT NEWS

First 5 Solano has released a request for applications for annual grants with up to $20,000 per grant available to address the needs of children ages 0 to 5, their parents/caregivers, and/or providers of services to children ages 0 to 5 in Solano County.
The purpose of the annual grants program is to provide an opportunity for the First 5 Solano Commission to consider grant requests that fill community gaps, pilot new or innovative ideas, or address time sensitive community needs. The funding is also intended to help support the startup of projects and programs that can become sustained in the community.
“Extensive research shows that the first five years of a child’s life are vitally important to brain development and lay the foundation for future growth, health, social and emotional skills, learning, school achievement and happiness,” says Lisette Estrella-Henderson, Solano County Superintendent of Schools and First 5 Solano Commission Chair.  “I encourage grant applicants with innovative ideas to apply for this grant to help provide additional supports that will improve the lives of children ages 0-5 and their families.”
All projects proposed for the Annual Grants Fund must support First 5 Solano’s mission to promote, support and improve the lives of young children, their families and their communities.  A total of $200,000 is available for July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. The limit per annual grant is $20,000. Applications will be accepted through June 8, 2020 until 5:00 p.m.
