VALLEJO, CA – Effective Tuesday, March 22, attendees at the Vallejo City Council meetings will be subject to a pre-screening process before entering the building.

“Like many other Cities across the country, Vallejo has been looking closely at our security policies and procedures for some time now. Our staff and community members’ health and safety (physical and psychological) are our number one priority” said Interim City Manager Mike Malone. “Everyone is welcome at City Hall. The new security measures are intended to provide increased safety and peace of mind to attendees and to safeguard access to local government by all”

The new security protocol will be as follows:

Attendees wishing to enter City Hall will only be allowed entrance through the first-floor doors (*See image below). Visitors will pass through a security checkpoint on the first floor, which will include a complete bodily pass by a metal detector wand and a visual inspection of all bags.

Once inside the building, visitors may exit through the second-floor (front doors) but will be required to return to the first-floor to be re-screed if they wish to re-enter the building.

A list of banned items will be in full view on 24″ x 36″ signboard at the first-floor entrance. Members of the public will not be allowed to pass into the building if they possess any banned items listed, with the exception of sworn officers who enter with their issued firearm.

In order to expedite the new security protocols, the City has contracted additional security personnel.
