VALLEJO, CA – As a response to the COVID-19 Health Crisis and fiscal challenges this crisis brings, the City of Vallejo is consistently exploring the most efficient uses of staff resources during this time.

Effective May 18, 2020, The City of Vallejo has made a strategic change to their process in answering Public Records Act (PRA) requests. Due to the City’s mindfulness of prudent budget management, the City is unable to add additional staff members to process the large number of PRA requests the City receives. In order to eliminate inefficiencies in staff time, PRA requests will no longer be published on the City’s website until the request has been filled and completed by the appropriate staff member(s), at which time all information will become public. Publishing unfulfilled requests on the City’s NextRequest portal has been an unnecessary extra step for staff. The City is under no legal obligation to publish unfulfilled PRAs on NextRequest until the requests have been completed, although the City will continue to respond to all requests within the timelines and framework set forth by California state law.
