Dear Friend of the Empress Theatre,
This is a challenging and difficult time for the Empress Theater and for our visual and performing arts community. Covid-19 has caused a great deal of change, and we are all facing a tremendous amount of uncertainty.
The State has made the difficult but necessary decision to ban mass gatherings of people. Nobody knows how long this ban may last. For an extended period of time, we will be unable to host shows and sell tickets. Because of this, we are facing a major loss in revenue. In addition to the impact on our organization, the performers are also having personal financial struggle through the coming weeks and months. The cost of “going dark” is truly significant and tragic.
We are coming to you now to ask for your continued support of the Empress Theater, even as we temporarily close our doors. We believe that music connects, inspires and transforms us and we want to ensure the future of our full slate of programs and offerings. The generosity of our wonderful community of patrons and donors is vital to sustaining the future of our venue and the performances we love.
Please consider making a gift in support of the Empress Theatre. This is by far the best thing you can do right now to support this important historic theater and ensure that we will be around when the virus is gone or contained.
We look forward to hearing the sound of applause once again at the Empress Theatre. Until then, stay safe and healthy.
