VALLEJO, Calif. – Southern Land Company (SLC), the master developer for Mare Island, has hired Jamie Hayes as their Mare Island Office Manager and Executive Assistant to Thomas D’Alesandro, SLC President of West Coast Operations. Hayes, who began the role on August 3rd, will manage administerial tasks to support D’Alesandro and SLC West Coast staff with the day-to-day development efforts on Mare Island.
“I’m excited to welcome Jamie onto our West Coast team,” said D’Alesandro. “She has spent the past twenty years of her career providing complex administerial support for the City of Napa. Her expertise with local government and customer service focus will prove vital in helping us achieve our vision of Mare Island as an economic engine and world class destination for Vallejo and the greater Bay Area.”
While at the City of Napa, Hayes worked as the Secretary to the City Manager, Finance Department, and Community Development Department’s Planning Division. Her work included organizing the calendar and travel schedules of the City Manager and Mayor, screening calls, and interacting with government officials, community organizations, and the public. She has also performed similar duties for the Executive Vice President of Operations at Dey Labs, the City of Calistoga City Manager, and the General Manager and Board of the American Canyon County Water District across her more than 30-year career.
Hayes feels that growing up in Vallejo, coupled with her work experience, will provide valuable insight as she assists SLC with land issues and the redevelopment potential at Mare Island. In the near-term, she will assist with calendaring meetings and building relationships with SLC staff and in the community to support the refinement of development plans for the island.
