VALLEJO – On September 26, 2020, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) held a DUI Checkpoint at the intersection of Sonoma Blvd. and Solano Ave. in the City of Vallejo. The checkpoint was administered from 6:00pm – 12:00am and yielded the following results:

  • One (1) driver arrested for DUI
  • Two (2) drivers arrested for outstanding warrants
  • Fourteen (14) vehicles impounded
  • Thirty-Six (36) drivers issued citations for driving with a suspended/revoked licensed or no license issued.

Checkpoints locations are established based on collision statistics and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving while impaired. As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern for the department.

The Vallejo Police Department in partnership with the Solano County Probation Department will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Vallejo Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
