VALLEJO, CA – The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) has selected Felton Institute’s proposal for the Vallejo Integrated Health and Resource Team (IHART) project for the award. Through this award, the VPD hopes to form a partnership with Felton Institute and additional community partners in the mental health and crisis response space wherein we provide support to this project, and in turn, can learn more about the needs of our residents. We are hopeful this project will improve outcomes and public safety for our community.

Selection was based upon the following criteria:

  • Experience in the mental health and crisis response space – Felton Institute currently leads the Angelo Quinto Community Response Team (AQCRT) in Antioch, CA. AQCRT is a very similar mobile response unit model to the proposed IHART;
  • Experience specifically in the Bay Area: Felton Institute has locations in the San Francisco and East Bay areas and is familiar with the unique needs in Vallejo;
  • Community and stakeholder feedback: In addition to the VPD internal review, Felton Institute’s proposal garnered the most positive feedback from the community and
  • RFP Proposal Guidelines: Felton Institute followed the guidelines and criteria outlined in the RFP.

We share Felton Institute and the community’s goal to support residents in crisis in Vallejo, and look forward to working together to create this team. We look forward to seeing what Felton Institute’s expertise and experience will bring to the residents of the City of Vallejo. The VPD thanks everyone for their submissions and participation throughout this process! As a reminder, VPD will still be accepting submissions for the IHART logo through November 28, 2023.
