CURRENT NEWS

James Cooper, and his team, at the Vallejo Chamber have put together a list of resources that may be helpful to our downtown businesses.

Business Resources

  • The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) had two important resources for small businesses to tap into if they needed money to survive. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is no longer accepting applications (as of August 8). However, the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is still active. As a reminder, these are low-interest loans (3.75%; 2.75% for non-profits) that can be paid over 30 years, don’t have a pre-pay penalty, and for which the first payment is not due for 12 months. CLICK HERE to go to the EIDL page and click on the “APPLY HERE” button.

Transportation updates

  • From the California Department of Transportation: The “State Route 29/Sonoma Blvd. Vallejo Pavement Repair Project” is scheduled to begin as early as this weekend. There will be lane closures and tow away zones established throughout the six mile route that stretches from near the Carquinez Bridge to the American Canyon/Vallejo border. This work should be completed by early October. CLICK HERE for more information

  • CalTrans will start working on the “Interstate 80 Six Bridges Project” in October, 2020. This project will affect all six bridge crossings over Hwy. 80 in Vallejo, starting with the Springs Road bridge. Work will be done at night and will include closing the bridge to all traffic. Each bridge should take about four months to complete, with the entire project scheduled to be completed by early 2024. CLICK HERE for more information

Other info

  • Solano County Supervisor Monica Brown (District 2) talks about how Solano County’s coronavirus numbers are being affected by private gatherings in her latest newsletter. CLICK HERE to view the Solano County COVID-19 web page that is tracking the latest numbers.
    • Also from Supervisor Brown: “I want to remind everyone that Solano County’s eviction moratorium in response to Covid-19 is in place until 90 days after the state emergency order is lifted. This means no evictions for nonpayment of rent can take place. You will still owe your rent and you should let your landlord know ASAP if you are unable to pay.
